Russia and Norway Snag the Gold in Greece


From August 21 – 25, 2019, the city of Loutraki hosted the Global Cup – Greece World Volleyball Championships, a global event for distinguished volleyball master’s athletes. Yet again, the event was a resounding success. This year the event features eight teams from six different countries with more that 130 athletes and escorts.

Global Cup – Greece is an annual meeting of esteemed volleyball veterans that showcase an outstanding career and performance both at the team and national level. Many athletes have forged special bonds and friendships as teammates or competitors on the volleyball courts year after year and the chance to get together is truly cherished. Many of the teams travel to Loutraki with families and friends, combining sport with tourism. In their free time between games, athletes had the chance to visit attractions of the Municipalities of Loutraki, Perachora, Agioi Theodoroi, such as the Corinth Canal as well as the archeological sites of Heraion, the Loutraki Thermal Spa and Water Springs.

In honor of the delegations and their representatives, a Welcome Dinner was hosted on Wednesday, August 21, at SPORTCAMP with the Mayor of Loutraki, Mr. Giorgos Gkionis and the managing director of SPORTCAMP, Mr. Spiros Karavoulis present. Many of the athletes stated that Loutraki is one of their favorite destinations and are looking forward to competing there again next year.
